Website Marketing Strategies to Increase Conversions

increase conversions
August 18, 2018

In order to be successful, your business should have a strong marketing strategy in place. What tools you use to implement these strategies depend on your goals, the demographics you’re targeting, the products or services you’re selling, and more.

Without a plan in place, you could be missing out on leads that are just browsing, or customers who are ready to purchase. WPamplify has listed some of the more common online marketing strategies.

Website Analysis

You might be happy with your website, and it may look nice. But by conducting a website analysis, you may find things that can be updated or improved, and this is a good opportunity to do so.

One major thing to look at is if your website is optimized for mobile devices. The number of visits from mobile devices is up to 63% in 2017. If your site doesn’t look good on your smartphone or tablet, then you need to website design update.

You can also exam the user experience. How easy is it for visitors to use your website? Here are some things to consider:

  • Load time: If your website loads slowly, this will drive people away. You don’t have very long if you want to capture their attention, as the average page visit can last from 10 to 20 seconds.
  • Navigation: Ensure that your pages and navigation menus are easy to find and understand.
  • Colors and text: Your text should be in a size that’s easy to read, and your colors should match appropriately.

Improving any of these areas will enhance the user experience and make browsing your website much easier.

Optimize Your Website SEO

Another common strategy is to optimize your website for search engines. Search engine optimization is the process of increasing the number of visitors to a website by making it easier to read and interpret by search engines. By optimizing your website, you increase the odds of your pages appearing higher on the search engine results page or SERP.

One component of SEO is keyword research. You need to find keywords that are relevant to your company. Once this is done, then create relevant content around these keywords. But don’t try and “stuff” your pages with keywords, as this can make you sound unprofessional and can turn off users.

Another component of SEO is on-site optimization. There are places other than within any of your written content that you can place keywords. Elements such as page titles, image and header tags, and meta descriptions are very useful as the search engines will crawl these in order to look for further content.

Conduct A/B Testing

It could be difficult to tell if users aren’t finding the information that you want them to find, but how do you know for sure? That’s where you can conduct an A/B test. A/B testing is a method of comparing two different versions of an element on a page to see which page performs better.

Your website analysis could possibly help with determining how many visitors are clicking on the Buy Now button, or if they leave your website after coming to a certain page. Running an A/B test will help you determine what factors on a specific page are helping or hurting your conversions.

Some examples of this are:

  • Changing the text of a link from “Click Here” to “Read More”
  • Changing a hero image
  • Moving a call-to-action button to a different location

Changing one element on your page could potentially lead to an increase in conversions.

Build a Social Media Presence

Using social media is a great way to engage with your audience, promote your business, and attract new followers.

You don’t have to use all of the popular social media platforms, as your customers may not significantly use some of them. Once you create accounts with the platforms you want to use, then you’ll need your customers to know you’re connected. Put links to your profiles in email signatures, buttons on your website or blog, and icons on business cards. You can even add signage to your physical location if you have one.

Once this is done, then comes the fun part. Start posting relevant, timely and interesting content. Including images can generate 35% more retweets on Twitter and 100% more engagement on Facebook. A post with an incentive to act may make it worthwhile. Whatever your social media content looks like, remember that users will feel encouraged to interact with quality posts.
