June 8, 2019

If you have been investing in SEO for a while, then it’s probably a good idea to figure out what’s working right now. Every few months the analytics change, which means we need to look at how things are being affected. The team here at WPamplify are SEO experts. We keep up with the changing trends.

Here’s the most important SEO strategies you need to be focusing on right now:

User Experience

One thing to keep in mind is that all Google algorithm changes are meant to provide a better user experience. This has been and always should be your number one focus on SEO. Everything about your website from the look, content, and navigation should provide the best user experience.

LSI Keyword Research

Of course, you already know that keyword research is important. But, it’s time that you invest in LSI (Latent semantic indexing) keyword research. This is word and phrases that correlate to the main keyword you are targeting. These matter, because Google uses them to figure out if your content is relevant to the search.

To find relevant LSI keywords, you can use this free tool called LSI Graph. Just put the keyword you are trying to target in the bar and run a search. It will pull up suggestions for you to use. Find ways to naturally incorporate these different phrases into your content.

Understand User Intent

User intent is the hot topic in SEO right now. This refers to the type of experience a user expects to have when they come to your website. It’s important to figure out what a user intends to find when they search out the keywords you are using. Not all keywords you are targeting is going to make sense.

For example, if you are targeting recipe keywords, the user may expect to see a video tutorial. At the very least, they want a full recipe with instructions. They are not expecting to land on a site that simply mentions recipes. Be mindful of the type of content that one would be looking for based off of the search terms you are targeting.

Mobile First SEO

Google is giving preference to websites that have a good mobile experience. If your mobile site is lacking, it’s time to redesign it. On that note, you also want to make sure your site speeds are fast on mobile. If it takes more than 2-3 seconds to load, you will lose users.

404 Redirects

One of the worst things for your website is to have 404 pages. The best thing you can do is have a 404 redirect to a relevant page on your site. Broken links of any kind can hurt your SEO. Ultimately, it leads to a poor user experience. That’s why it is important to make sure that the links and pages on your site are always working.

You can check broken links using the Free Broken Link Checker. This is time consuming, but worth it for your website.
