Start By Rejecting The Request
The first thing you should do is open the email and reject the request for that person to have ownership of your listing. No one should be able to claim your listing if you own it, but just to be on the safe side, reject the person that is asking. This will make certain that Google My Business doesn’t transfer the ownership. Once you reject the request, then you can delete the email and get back to business as usual.
Let Your Staff Know
Make sure that you tell your staff that if they ever see a request for ownership of your GMB listing come in, they should tell you. Also, let them know to never accept the request but to reject it. You may not be able to reduce these requests by filling out a complaint form to Google, but if you’re receiving a lot of them it is worth a try. Here is a form that Google allows you to lodge complaints regarding your GMB listing. Once you fill it out, you may see a drop in requests.
