But how do you advertise your website so more people find you in Google? And what are the high value digital strategies you should be focusing on given your schedule is busy running your business?

In this article, WPamplify shares 5 digital marketing tips for designers and architects with proven ways to squeeze more results out of your online presence.

1. Search Engine Optimize Your Website

One effective way to get more website traffic from Google is through search engine optimization. SEO means optimizing your website so more people find you in Google when they are searching for your service. SEO can be very complicated, but to boil it down to the basics, all you need to focus on is:

  • Make sure your core pages focus on the keywords you want to rank for.
  • Make sure your website has plenty of content for Google to rank.
  • Make sure you get links from other websites to your website.

If you focus on the 3 action items above, you’ll see more traffic to your website — but keep in mind that it takes time.

2. Blogging is Important and Here’s Why

Google likes to see a website with a lot of content. Reason being, their ultimate job is to rank websites in Google that provide the most value to searchers. And typically, a website that has a lot of content on a specific topic (design, architecture, etc.) is an authority and Google favors that.

One very effective way of adding content to your website in a manageable way is through blogging. On a regular schedule, you create an article on a relevant topic and then publish it to your website. Eventually, Google crawls the page, puts it into their index, and hopefully ranks it for certain keywords.

And make sure you optimize each blog post for a specific keyword you want to show up for on Google. Doing this will maximize the amount of organic traffic you get.

3. Use Hashtags and @ Mentions on Twitter

Twitter has over 300 millions active users and it’s a great social media platform for spreading your content, sharing other content and become an authority in your space.

You need to tweet on a regular basis every week, but you also want to maximize the effort you are making as much as possible. To accomplish this, you should:

  • Use relevant hashtags in every tweet so more people can find your tweets.
  • Use @ mentions when possible so people see you are sharing their content.

By incorporating these 2 simple strategies into your Twitter marketing, more people will find and notice you.

4. Use Remarketing to Bring People Back

You spend time and money to get people to your website, but the reality is that the majority will leave without contacting you. It’s very frustrating, but there is something you can do to advertise to these people to bring them back to your website.

It’s called remarketing and it runs off the Google AdWords platform. In a nutshell:

  • You upload banners to AdWords that you want people to see.
  • You put some code on your website to cookie visitors.
  • When someone visits your website, they get cookie’d.
  • When they leave your website, they see your banner ads.
  • If they click on your ads, they are sent back to your website.

Remarketing is a very easy and cost-effective way of maximizing the website traffic you are getting.

5. Tag Your Website Images With Keywords

Due to the industry you are in, you likely have a lot of images on your website to showcase your client projects. One additional SEO strategy that you can implement that is pertinent to your line of work is to tag every image with relevant keywords.

Every image on a website has what’s called an alt tag. It’s a way for you to describe what the image is about and Google reads these tags. What you want to do is add some keywords to each image’s alt tag — doing so helps your SEO, but it also helps you rank in Google’s Image Search.

But very important — don’t keyword stuff. Just describe the image in 1 sentence using natural language that you would use if you were speaking to a client.
